The design of our rig mat features our patent pending cross member design. This feature, unique to Alberta Rig Mats, protects rail to crossmember welds from stress and strengthens the rig mat. At the same time our design allows for the necessary frame flexibility in order to have needed memory.

We have built good relationships with select lumber mills and developed our own distinct high quality grade or standard for our Spruce/Pine/Fir (SPF) wood inserts. We take this rough lumber and run it through our own saw for further processing and inspection. The wood surface of our rig mats is flush or slightly higher than the top of the steel frame. This will help protect the rig mat frame from damage and prolong the life of our product.
